Verbier Mountain

We could tell you that everything looks great in the mountains and you would possibly agree… Even if that is true, taking original and captivating shots is usually a complex and somewhat artistic endeavour… At times, you need to veer off the beaten path to find the perfect shot. Still, this is not the purpose of this exercise, hence we won’t be exposing you to unnecessary risks. Quite often, you may take a shot while standing at the edge of a slope, giving thereby the illusion that the skier is in the mountains.

Moreover, lighting conditions are also relevant. The snow introduces an element of complexity, because its reflections and contrasts must be carefully managed. As a rule, the best lighting conditions arise early in the day or right before sunset, because grazing lights produce stronger hues and confer a more interesting dimension to landscapes.

Here are some inspirational and interesting shots near Verbier, which you can turn into beautiful memories to share with your friends. These places are not unusual as such but offer a few suggestions to those unfamiliar with the Verbier area. Also discover our Instagram account: verbierbessonimmobilier.

1. Snowy route from Sonalon Restaurant to Marlene Restaurant

It is the ideal spot to enjoy outstanding views of Verbier. And this is the perfect shot to take at dusk, with the cottage lights bouncing off the white snowy coat. That aside, the stroll is just fabulous anytime!

2. La Chaux: Verbier’s letters

A must-visit: this location is on the slopes near Chaux, but you can access it on foot on a nice, level walk on a groomed road from the Ruinettes; alternatively, you may take the gondola. Don’t be shy and give it your best pose…

3. A hut in the middle of nowhere

When you ski down from Gentianes, stop upstream of the Mont-Fort hut and immortalise the moment. This mountain hut gives life to a stunning landscape facing the Combins massif, Mont Blanc and Trient.

4. Mont Fort (3336 m)

It is usually useful to move to higher ground when looking for astounding scenery and distant horizons. From the top of Mont-Fort, discover the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Grand Combin and other of the most beautiful peaks in the Alps. Also accessible to pedestrians, Mont-Fort (3336 m) can be reached via gondola.

5. Le lac des Vaux

Remember to use the black and white settings sometimes. Take pictures of lac des Vaux, behind the Atlas, usually the first ski slope accessible as Verbier’s ski lifts open. The lake is generally frozen but that is not always the case…

6. And an unusual place as the icing on the cake

The tunnel that joins Carrefour and Mayentset. Stop there to take original photos using the fantastic back lighting conditions.
