Ideally situated in the heart of the Verbier resort, close to all amenities and at the foot of the slopes, one of our apartments has been completely overhauled thanks to the work and talent of Janine Mottier Obrist from the VIP Confort agency. The flat has been given a refreshing contemporary style inspired by the magnificent Valais mountains, making it brighter and more modern.
The story of this flat
This unit belonged to an English family who had bought it when the building was built in the 1970s. The style of the time featured a lot of wood panelled skirting, thick plastering, vintage tiling and a separate kitchen. The owners grew old and couldn’t ski anymore, and decided to sell in 2016.
A young English family with two children bought the property and the lady of the house immediately started renovating. After visiting several of Janine’s renovations, she gave her the guidelines to customise her new home according to her tastes and expectations.
A brief summary of this apartment renovation
The idea behind the renovation was to make the space more functional, especially the kitchen which was not practical, to bring more light into the rooms and to add a bathroom as well as a master bedroom.
A complete metamorphosis
The 122 m2 apartment was brought back to life with a total makeover. Everything was brought back up to standard: the insulation, the glazing, the electricity, the chimney, etc. Walls were knocked down, cabinets removed and rooms rearranged. No less than a dozen different trades had to be coordinated.
In parallel with the work going on, precious time was devoted to the choice of materials, fabrics and furniture, both new and also found in various second-hand shops.
Local craftsmen, a guarantee of quality
The work was all carried out by tradesmen from the area. According to Janine from VIP Confort, this was non-negotiable for a successful renovation on the Verbier hillside. Local artisans have knowledge, experience and meticulousness that few can pride themselves on. The different trades have embodied and kept alive values of excellence and creativity across several generations.
A contemporary look inspired by rustic chic
The changes made brought new life to the flat and left us speechless! The spaces are convivial, practical and easy. This new flat brings together different influences with their own character. There is a rustic style with old wood, thick fur, an irregularly cut coffee table associated with contemporary furniture, fulfilling all desire for a warm feel. It has style, and that makes the decor timeless.
Today it’s a real cocoon of well-being, relaxation and daydreaming that perfectly matches the personality of the new family who will spend precious moments in the heart of our Valais mountains.
