Verbier Sport Gastronomy Mountain

We are in our little holiday nest in Verbier. We don’t necessarily want to leave it. But when the sun shines and we look over this breathtaking panorama, our curiosity takes over. We want to discover flavours, smells, stories and people. We want to discover these landscapes that we have dreamed of, to feel the fresh air on our face and to feel better by doing some kind of activity. In short we want to go out and discover the mountain and its ecosystem.

Here we suggest some walks for all levels, where you will be able to rest and taste some flavours. Somewhat unusual places in the Verbier region. Here are some ideas that Besson Immobilier regularly offers to its customers. These walks around Verbier can be done both in summer and in winter.

The Plannards (Verbier)

For this first idea, we’ll stay on the Verbier side. A walk that can be done on foot, or in winter it can also be done on snowshoes, sealskins and if it appeals to you, you can even walk and take a sled down! It’s an easy little walk, about 40 minutes. Take the bus to Sonalon. Then continue on foot towards Planards (at the junction turn right, otherwise you will go to Marlennaz). A nice walk that will take you to a small hamlet of mazots and typical chalets with a breathtaking view. The road in winter is snowy but looked after.

Restaurants
You can eat at la Marmotte or at le Namasté. Two well-known high-rise restaurants in Verbier, each with a beautiful terrace where one could spend hours contemplating the landscape.

Sarreyer

If you want to discover an authentic village with barns, mazots and chalets perched on the mountain this is the place to go. Sarreyer is 20 minutes’ drive from Verbier. You can leave the car in one of the car parks at the edge of the road at the entrance of the village. An educational walk is available in the village, following the route of the bread, the evolution of the bread grain, which will bring you to discover the fields, the barns, the attics, the saw and the mill and the communal oven and which will allow you to wander in and around the village.  Open all year, the visit is free.  This beautiful walk takes you among old chalets or sunburnt wooden houses typical of Valais, which are the delight of photographers and strollers.

Restauration
You can finish your stroll with a small walk to the Mont-Fort café in the middle of the village. A small atypical village bistro, run by a farmers’ association where the atmosphere is friendly, pleasant and local, with a small kitchen with heart.

Bruson

A small village in front of Verbier in the heart of unspoiled nature, Bruson will delight you with its beautiful character and tranquillity. This small village of Val de Bagnes is at the foot of a small family ski resort easily reached from Verbier thanks to its gondola Le Châble – Mayens de Bruson (open only in winter). In summer, you can access Bruson from Verbier in 20 minutes by car.

Here you can find the snowshoeing itinerary for the winter in the heart of the forest. For the summer, we strongly recommend the bisse des Ravines from the restaurant “le Raclett’house”, a specialist in regional products.

Restaurants
As stated above, if you prefer cheese, enjoy a fondue or raclette at Raclett’house, with Eddy Baillifard, our famous cheesemaker – well known in the region for his warm personality – from the Bisse des Ravines, at the top of Bruson.

And if not, take a walk through the heart of the village where the view is beautiful on the bottom of the valley. Discover its typical houses, its raccards, its mazots and pretty retouched cottages.

On the day of the visit, make sure before you leave the house that the various restaurants are open.

Besson Immobilier wishes you very pleasant walks, pleasant discoveries and pleasant meetings around Verbier in our beautiful Val de Bagnes.
