We all know the famous Bec des Rosses in winter, one of the most difficult mountains to ski in competition and the one that hosts the Freeride world tour final in Verbier. This steep, long and dangerous mountain inspires respect and deserves attention during the summer season.

The Tour du Bec des Rosses (for very good hikers)

The Bec des Rosses tour is a day-long hiking tour to discover breathtaking views, wilderness, mountain lakes and varied terrain.

To make this hike, we advise you to leave from La Chaux after taking the ski lifts from Verbier (check the timetables before leaving). Start the loop on the Chamois Trail, towards Termin Pass and Lac de Louvie.

The chamois trail, ideal place to approach the wildlife of the region

This crossing is spectacular: a breathtaking view awaits you. On the horizon are the majestic summits of the Combins. Under your feet,  the steep terrain plunges towards the bottom of the valley of Bagnes. Stay alert, open your eyes and raise your head as you may be lucky enough to encounter ibexes, chamois, eagles or gypsies.

From Termin Pass, the trail continues its quiet ascent in a green setting, enlivened by delicious alpine flora.  You will enjoy the view of the magical beauty of Lake Louvie with its emerald color.

Then you will have fun testing your balance by strolling along the stony path that will take you to Lake Petit Mont-Fort. With lots of heat and bravery, let yourself be tempted by a small swim in the turquoise waters of this magnificent mountain lake.

Last climb to the Col de la Chaux: an example of global warming

Not so long ago, it was necessary to walk on a trail to reach the Col de la Chaux. We can guess the old markings drawn in height on a wall to our right, which is no longer possible to follow. The trail has given way to pebbles that are not very stable, but you will find a new marking that will lead you to the pass.

Back to the point of departure

From the trail, you'll have fun descending on stones, gliding on valiant snows and jumping over a few small streams. You can take the chairlift back down to Verbier, either to Fontannay or to La Chaux. Check the last hour of the ski lifts so as to  not  arrive too late.

Have a nice walk
